Alecto Carrow Cast For HBP

United Agents is reporting that Suzanne Toase has been cast as Alecto Carrow in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. According to the agency, Toase is currently at work on the film.

WB Sets Date For DH Part I!

Warner Bros. has confirmed a release date for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. The first installment of the series finale will open on November 19th, 2010, with the second released the following summer. Earlier reports indicated that Part II would premiere in May 2011. David Yates will return to direct the Deathly Hallows films.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition To Open Spring 2009

The Becker Group and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced today that it will bring worldwide "Harry Potter: The Exhibition", highlighting artifacts from the Warner Bros. films based on J.K. Rowling's franchise. The exhibit will premiere in Spring 2009 in "a major market" and will appear in ten or more cities around the world throughout a five-year span. Potter Actors To Participate In Children's Film Festival

2007 Berkshire Children's Book Award

ABC's New J.K. Documentary

ABC has announced that they are working on a documentary on J.K. Rowling that will air this November. The documentary will offer a "behind-the-scenes" look at her life and will include "several interviews, the book tour for the final Harry Potter installment, and a tour of locations that inspired her characters." According to Reuters, "It even hints to what the future holds for Harry and his friends."

An update from Emma's official site notes her participation in this series, which takes a look at writers that have been influenced by particular places in Britain. Emma In French Period Drama

Emma Watson has replaced Scarlett Johansson as Napoleon's young love in a French period drama entitled Napoleon and Betsy, MTV News reports. The film, which is slated to be released in 2009, will center around Napoleon's life in the early 1800s and his relationship with William Balcombe's daughter Betsy. It is written and directed by Benjamin Ross.
*UPDATE - Contrary to earlier reports, Emma has not officially been cast as Betsy Balcombe in the upcoming period drama Napoleon and Betsy, but she is interested in the project.

Judge Urges Settlement In HP Case

A federal judge said that J.K. Rowling and a publisher who wants to release an unauthorized encyclopedia about her Harry Potter novels should try to settle the copyright dispute out of court. U.S. District Judge Robert Patterson Jr. said Wednesday that the copyright infringement case was a legal close call and was almost certain to end in years of appeals.

J.K. Honoured at Book Awards

Prime Minister Gordon Brown sent a video message praising Rowling for work that had "the whole country reading". Rowling thanked the awards for giving her an outstanding, rather than a lifetime, prize as it suggested her career was not over.

Telegraph's 100 Most Powerful People

The Telegraph has a new feature online, listing the 100 Most Powerful People in British Culture. The paper selected this list of individuals based on their contribution and influence of the arts in Britain, noting this list "shows the depth of talent and level of commitment to the arts in this country and reflects its importance in our national life". Beedle the Bard Ballad Writing Contest

Amazon.com wants to send you and a friend to London, England to spend a weekend with the rare and delightful book of fairy tales, handwritten and illustrated by J.K. Rowling herself. Open to muggles ages 13 and older in 24 countries. Amazon is giving Harry Potter fans the chance to read The Tales of Beedle the Bard, but only if they're over 12. Amazon says it had to set an age limit on the writing contest because of internet rules in other countries.

Dates Announced For Equus On Broadway

Richard Griffiths and Dan Radcliffe are set to reprise their roles in Equus on Broadway this year and the dates have been announced. The play will begin previews at the Broadhurst Theatre in Manhattan on Friday, September 5th and will open on Thursday, September 25th for a strictly limited 22-week engagement, through Sunday, February 8th, 2009. The play will once again be directed by Thea Sharrock. Tickets for the play will go on sale to American Express Gold Card members on Saturday, April 12th at 9:00 am EST.

More HBP Casting News: Regulus and Saguini

According to 2 casting agency websites, the characters of Regulus Black and Sanguini have been cast for Half-Blood Prince. Tom Moorcroft is listed to be playing Regulus Black and Charlie Bennison will reportedly play Sanguini. Tom Moorcroft recently spoke to Potterish about his role in the new movie. Tom stated that he only spent 2-3 hours on the set at Leavesden Studios for his role and the only actor present was Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn). "It's for one of Professor Slughorn's photographs, for his office." Tom is unsure if he will reprise the role for Deathly Hallows.
In further casting news, A&J Management has posted a new picture of Scarlett Byrne, the actress who will portray Pansy Parkinson in Half-Blood Prince. Check it out here.

JK Rowling Contributes to Birthday Book

The Times is reporting that J.K. Rowling has written a piece that will appear in a new book celebrating the 60th birthday of Prince Charles. In Hugo Rifkind's column, he says the Harry Potter author has contributed writing that will appear "in The Birthday Book, to be published by The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts" for the Prince of Wales' birthday in November.

Signed Harry Potter Book Up For Auction

This film features Paul and Joe from Harry and the Potters, Brian and Brad from Draco and the Malfoys, and Matt from The Whomping Willows.
