International Release Dates Confirmed

Warner Bros. has confirmed 60 international release dates for the film adaptation of Half-Blood Prince, which will open in American and British theatres on this November 21st.
The first to see the movie - Egyptian and Belgian fans, followed by German, Greek and other countries. You can view the full release dates list at Veritaserum.
Michigan Kids Enjoy HP Day

The Hudson Community Library in Michigan held its second-ever "Harry Potter Day" Friday afternoon, offering games, trivia and prizes surrounding the popular book series about the adventures of a boy wizard as a way to encourage middle and high school students to read. Cloak-wearing sisters Heather and Jennica Smith organized the party.

There have been several different rumors running rampant online lately which, sorry Potterholics, are indeed totally untrue. The HBP video game does not have an early release date, Emma Watson is not the new face of Chanel, and J.K. did not write a script for a short film for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Theme Park at Universal Orlando.

HP Prequel Now Online

The shorter-than-short Harry Potter prequel by author J.K. Rowling is now available to read online at Waterstone's website (once there, click "Read our authors' stories" and then select J.K. Rowling's name). The story, handwritten on the front and back of a note card, was one of 12 from various authors auctioned for the bookseller's "What's Your Story?" charity fundraiser. Rowling's went for nearly $50,000.

*UPDATE - Within the first 20 hours that Waterstone's placed the prequel online, more than 70,000 fans viewed the story.

Authors unhappy about UK book age sticker plan

Next year, some publishers in the UK are planning to put age labels on the covers of kids' books. Lots of top authors, including Philip Pullman and Jacqueline Wilson, thinks it's a bad idea. Hundreds of authors have signed an online petition, because they think kids will be afraid to try books for older kids, and get teased if they read books for younger ages.

Jo pens HP prequel for charity!

JK Rowling has written an 800-word prequel to the Harry Potter series for a charity auction benefiting English Pen and Dyslexia Action. The prequel is said to feature "the fictional wizard's father James and his friend Sirius Black in their younger years." A copy of the prequel will be available online after the auction on June 10th and will also be sold in a book containing all 13 auction contributions come August. JK later updated her site to say that the Harry Potter prequel "takes place around 3 years before Harry is born." She adds, "Although I did feel a bit like a relapsing addict as I sat down to write - the words poured from my pen with frightening ease - I am NOT working on a prequel. Indeed, I've written that clearly at the bottom of the card itself".

John Hurt hints he'd like to be in Hallows

John Hurt, who played Mr. Ollivander in Sorcerer's Stone, says he hopes to return for the final installment of the boy wizard franchise Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which will be split into two films.
