In a poll of Best Beach Books Ever conducted by NPR, the Harry Potter series of books came in at number 1. Almost 16,000 people cast some 136,000 votes in the poll. The Hobbit ranked number 17, and The Lord of the Rings came in at 18. Twilight appeared at number 30 on the list.
